The terms modern and contemporary when used to describe furniture is often interchangeable, so much so that, the common man gets confused when people refer to one or the other. While modern could refer to a school of design, contemporary could refer to a time period - e.g. furniture pieces from the 1980s could be referred to as "contemporary" 1980s furniture. However, for practical purposes, a modern frame of bed and contemporary bed-frame could both have the similar clean, simple style and uncluttered design.
Bedroom furniture that makes a bedroom suite livable is made from wood and different types of metal like steel, wrought or cast iron. Bed frames are used to support the mattress, a headboard, footboard and canopy depending on the type of frame. Hence, they must be strong so that the mattress does not sag or move out of position. The bed is the central part of any bedroom furniture and there are many types available like: Canopy, Divan Platform Sleigh Trundle Space saving Loft Feather Bunk Water Wall or Murphy, Cabin.
Teak, wicker or rosewood is the popular choices for wooden frames. Modern frames are characterized by their sleek patterns, simple designs, minimalist themes, solid, bold colors and they give a futuristic appearance to the bedroom. Wooden frames achieve this look better than any other type of frames. Wooden frames have legs rather than wheels and can be completely assembled. They can also vary in height and provide space under the bed to store suitcases or boxes.
Just make sure about the type of wood that is used to manufacture the solid wood frame of bed you purchase. Oak and pine are considered the best for bedroom furniture. Plywood looks good but is not sturdy enough. Particleboard again is cheaper than oak or pine but can bend over time with the weight of the mattress. The only drawback is the heavy weight of wood. But its durability, beauty and elegance far outweigh this minor drawback.
